Hungary Forward Hospitalized After Fractured Cheekbone

Hungarian forward Barnabás Varga was hospitalized in stable condition on Thursday after suffering a fractured cheekbone in a Euro 2024 match against Scotland. Varga was taken from the field on a stretcher after a collision with Scotland defender Kieran Tierney in the 25th minute of the match.

No Delay in Treatment

There was no delay in the time taken to treat Varga, who was given oxygen on the field and then taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Hungary team doctor László Puskás said that Varga is expected to make a full recovery but will miss the rest of the tournament.

Impressive International Career

Varga, 29, has scored seven goals in 14 games for Hungary. He was a key part of the team that reached the round of 16 at the 2020 European Championship. Varga also plays for Ferencváros in the Hungarian league, where he has won two league titles and one Hungarian Cup.

The injury to Varga is a blow to Hungary, which is already without several key players due to injury. Hungary will face Croatia in their next match on Sunday, June 25.
